Another Consultant?
The Kane County Board Administration Committee on 7/12/07 approved to advance to the board by a 3-2 vote, a request for the RFP approval for the Master Planning of the Judicial Center. Bonnie Kunkel and Deborah Allan voted "NO". Gerald Jones, Robert Kudlicki and Don Wolfe voted "YES". Ms. Kunkel made a suggestion that the county departments meet and decide which groups need to work closely together than go to look for a consultant to help put the plan together. to quote Ms. Kunkel "..garbage in garbage out" was stated because she thought the county should do their homework first, so the consultant could have something to work with.

How much is this going to cost? Is it ok for a taxpayer to ask? How do we make all the ends meet if the 2007 projected actual revenues for the County Recorder Office is short $894,010. The 2007 expenditure projection shows a $2,386,035 short fall. The new Jail over $9 million the "magic number" $50 million. This numbers are from the County. HOW?
(These) I guess I need the English teacher.
Can ACT find out how many new jail and other consultants have been hired in the past year?
It seems like they want to study something else every day.
Hiring consultants is an easy way to circumvent working with the rest of the board members. One or two individuals guide the consultant rather than a committee of elected officials. The jail was steered in this manner. The Criminal Justice Project Steering Committee did absolutely nothing, while Robertson and McConn and a few others controled the project to their liking. Everything from picking out the bricks to construction schedules was done in private sessions. Consultants are an easy way to circumvent the open meetings laws.
Consultants are for the most part professionals with specific skills hired for a specific purpose.
Why would the county hire an expert permanently if he/she were going to be needed for one project only?
Why an elected official would take decisions knows nothing about?
I can see the ACT members have a problem not only with Communications professionals who through hard work earn good wages, but also have a problem with any type of professional who’s an expert on specific field and dares to try to make a leaving.
No one has problems with communications professionals only the amount needed.
Does the health department need one?
What about development and transportation.
What the prior poster fail to write is that ACT requested information regarding these positions and were provided NO documentation outside of an uncapped and unlimited hourly wage.
An short explanation stated "special projects" and "consult as needed.
What appears to be the case is to promote those facing re-election in articles that say little or anything.
Like the bridge that still has a shortfall and the farmland preservation program promoted by Mike McCoy?
The current Chairman made many statements against it at that time.
Those of us against the sprawlway remember all too well.
Now she seems to be taking credit for the whole initiative.
Did anyone read the Aurora Beacon today?
It talks about the declining new home construction in Kane and Kendall counties.
The revenue sources for the county and cities continue to decline and the projects that are ongoing have cost continually rising.
What does the future hold?
What about the rising home forclosures in the counties?
Let's face it, Kane County is always going to have huge problems as long as Chairman Karen M. is running things. Anyone who gets most of her advice from that horribly clueless Christine Dudley, deserves to lose. Dudley has a long record of failure and insider dealings with the worst of the old Illinois GOP. Few will have anything to do with her.
Yeah but Dudley's live in boyfriend got some kind of a job over there after she got paid to help McConnaughay against a guy that spend 2K to her almost 200K.
So Dudley and her buds are doing just fine now in Kane County.
How's the investigation going?
Dudley has gotten McConnaughay dragged into all the worst aspects of the old George Ryan/Bob Kjellander shameful history.
There's so much bad stuff going on there....it's just a matter of time....
How much money is in the Enterprise emergency fund in case there is an emergency in regard to the landfill?
Has anyone checked that fund lately?
Hope the press looks at this.
Kane County has huge problems?
The only problem I see is the failure of ACT's plans to "TAKE OVER the COUNTY.
What happed with the candidates they were recruiting? Did they realize it was a bad idea to be supported by ACT?
There were no plans to take over the county.
ACT goal One. Support in county spending. The Chairman changes her campaign spending after pressure and does a about face. VICTORY FOR ACT AND TAXPAYERS.
Goal Two. Get media attention of the difficulty for public communication in public meetings.
Canididate Carlson announces this very day that members must NOW speak into microphones so the public can hear them.(Please note the word CANDIDATE and the timing of this announcement.
Even has "dialogue" with a citizen.
VICTORY FOR ACT AND TAXPAYERS.
Goal Three. ACT is a non partisan, NON POLITICAL ACTION GROUP. They DO NOT support candidates. How many times does it have to be said or written for the paid campaign staff that spend their time smoking and blogging to get this???
People are using the public information on this site to distribute to other residents.
ANOTHER VICTORY FOR ACT AND THE TAXPAYERS.
If this administration spent more time studying issues themselves instead of hiring out for them and posting here we all might be better off! LOL
Keep the atta boy e-mails coming.
ACT gets them EVERY day. Tips arrive daily too from county employees too frightened to go anywhere else.
WOW. ACT wishes someone would recruit candidates. This is serious stuff.

This article discusses another potential tax increase.
The link didn't work
Looks like Jan Carlson's career at the trough will end in a decisive loss at the polls. Frasz is a top class candidate with strong support at the grassroots level. Will Jan quit before he is fired? I hope not. Rather beat him at the polls.
Maybe what we need is a list of preferred consultants who would advise a committee on how to structure the contracting to consultants who would advise the committee on how the committee should do its job.
I'm a consultant. I've seen a lot of consultants, both good and bad. We joke about the coordinators who are brought in to coordinate the facilitators who are facilitating the coordination.
Amen! I couldn't agree more. I have consultants to consult the so called professionals who are there to manage the consultants. That way, we have more opinions and less action and an abundant waste of time and money.
The taxpayer is doomed.
