Local Vendors

St. Charles announced that the city will use local vendors who either tie with an outside company for a low bid or come within 1 percent of the lowest bid for construction materials and other services.

Well that is a great idea! Help those that pay taxes in your town. Maybe the county could follow the lead.

So it's pretty clear today with the posting of the latest D-2's on the State Board of Elections website that Chairman McConnaughay has very little support from the average voter in Kane County, and/or good 'ol boy pay to play could be alive and well....

From the report: 56 itemized Individual Contributions totaling $37,950.00

Breakdown: 26 Donations of $500 or more from Corporations outside of Kane
13 Donations of $500 or more from Corporations located in Kane
2 Donations of $200-250 from Corporations located in Kane

7 Donations of $500 or more from Individuals outside of Kane
8 Donations of $500 or more from Individuals located in Kane

Not-Itemized donations of less than $150 = $500

And don't be fooled by the individual contributions ... many of the individual donations come from individuals who have some form of economic interest in the dealings of the County Board.

Only bright spot is the fact that the work of ACT seems to have spurred a renewed interest in spending money in Kane County as all expenditures went to companies located in Kane County. Apparently someone woke up and realized that the "specialized services" they were receiving outside the county weren't so special and could be completed by the competent workers in Kane County!!!

Great work ACT, keep the spotlight shining!!!!
